LEO 1450 VP scanning electron microscope (100-500, 2000-5000; Carl Zeiss, Германия). The results were subjected to analytical processing. Studying with a binocular magnifier showed that irrigation of the minipig tongue with gastric juice is accompanied by a change in color of the mucous membrane. A pale-rose color was transformed into an ashypearl color. Light opalescence was typical of the back of the tongue. The degree of opalescence was shown to decrease in the root of the tongue. These features were observed in the frontal, middle, and distal zones of the tongue. Macroscopic changes were reflected in a fine (microscopic) structure of the tongue. The tongue relief tended to be smoothened on a gastric juice-treated surface. Aiguilles of the circumvallate papillae (receptors for bitter tastes) were revealed under normal conditions, but disappeared in the zone of keratinization. It was probably related to desquamation of these structures. Then we evaluated the action of an aggressive agent (gastric juice) on fungiform papillae of the tongue, which serve as receptors for sweet and salt tastes. The vallecula around these papillae had a great number of folds. The prominence of the “fungus” was smoothened. In some regions, folate papillae of the tongue (receptors for acid tastes) appeared as cone-shaped outgrowths and lost an elongated shape. Sometimes these structures were broken out, which resulted in the formation of traces of formerly existing papillae. It should be emphasized that the relief of the tongue mucous membrane was also smoothened, which resulted from alteration with the acid content. Hence, experimental modeling of GERD in minipigs is followed by the appearance of macroscopic and morphological signs that illustrate an aggressive effect of gastric juice on the tongue mucous membrane. Our results and published data indicate that these changes contribute to stomatological manifestations of GERD in patients. REFERENCES 1. E. A. Bazikyan, I. V. Maev, and G. I.
