Exercise 7. Translate the following word combinations from Russian into English using active vocabulary. Exercise 8. Make up a dialogue. Either draw simple pictures of the three people or, if you have photos of them on a mobile phone, use those. Show the pictures to your partner. Your partner should start by asking: Who's that? And should continue the conversation by asking at least four more questions about each of the three people. Exercise 1.Work in groups. Discuss these questions. 1. Which part of your country – or of the world – do you think is the best place: to be a child? Why? to be a teenager? Why? to start a family? Why? to get old? Why? 2. Do you like the place you grew up in? What was good / bad about it? Exercise 2. You are going to read an article about the best countries to be a child in and to grow old in. The Netherlands According to a recent UNICEF report, the Netherlands is the best place in the world to be a child, while the UK is the worst! The report looked at areas like health, income of parents and education, but also did research into how children felt about their lives – and why. Several reasons for the country‟s success are suggested: there are plenty of parks, play spaces and facilities for the young; the percentage of mothers who work is quite low; Dutch parents – and teachers – put less pressure on their children at school and don't worry about their children's grades; Dutch families are generally very open and they talk about everything. Because parents are more liberal, teenage issues that sometimes cause arguments in stricter societies aren't usually a problem in Holland. Here's what Dutch children say:
