ВВЕДЕНИЕ

Социальный заказ современного общества – не только обучать ино-

странному языку как средству общения, но и формировать языковую личность, 
вобравшую в себя ценности родной и иноязычной культур и готовую 
к межкультурному общению, к осуществлению диалога культур. Поэтому 
целью учебного пособия является формирование иноязычной коммуникативной 
компетенции обучаемых.

При составлении учебного пособия мы строго придерживались си-

стемного подхода в рассмотрении учебного процесса по иностранному 
языку и четко определили цель, содержание, методы и приемы обучения. 

Учебное пособие «Be ready for your English» предназначено для 

школьников старших классов и студентов первого и второго курсов с учетом 
принципа преемственности в обучении иностранным языкам. Учебное 
пособие может быть также использовано широким кругом лиц с различным 
уровнем владения языком для совершенствования иноязычной коммуникативной 
компетенции.

Ключевые моменты:
❖ в пособии представлены тексты по актуальным темам и про-

блемам;

❖ тексты аутентичны, взяты из оригинальных изданий, реле-

вантны;

❖ работа с учебным пособием дает возможность развивать и совер-

Каждый из разделов состоит из следующих частей: Vocabulary; 

Reading; Watching&Listening; Grammar; Let’s Speak; Writing и Project Work. 
К текстам и видео предлагаются предтекстовые задания, вопросы на проверку 
понимания текстов/видео. В разделе грамматики правила формируются 
на основе прочитанных текстов при помощи метода управляемых открытий. 
Раздел Let’s Speak предлагает составление диалогов на заданную 
тематику, разыгрывание различных ролей и ситуаций, а также дискуссии. 
Раздел Writing содержит задания, с которыми обучающиеся могут столкнуться 
в реальной жизни: написание сопроводительного письма, эссе, описание 
графика, и т. д. В качестве завершающего этапа работы над темой 
предлагаются учебно-речевые ситуации, дискуссии, разбор кейс-ситуаций, 
а также проектное задание сопоставительного характера. Работа с материалом 
возможна как в аудитории, так и во время онлайн-уроков, поскольку 
упражнения доступны в интерактивной форме на интерактивной доске 
Miro, learningapp.com, wordwall. com., ко всем текстам и видео прилагаются 
ссылки. В конце учебного пособия предлагается словарь (Vocabulary). 
В вокабуляр включены все активные слова в алфавитном порядке. 

Заявленная цель учебного пособия достигается путем решения сле-

дующих задач: 

1. совершенствования навыков чтения на основе аутентичных ма-

териалов; 

2. совершенствования навыков аудирования на основе аутентич-

ных видео из сети Youtube;

3. развития устной речи на основе учебно-речевых ситуаций; 
4. отработки навыков письменной речи посредством выполнения 

творческих заданий на основе изучаемых тем;

5. совершенствования навыков самостоятельной работы и работы в 

команде над проектными заданиями. 

Данное учебное пособие может быть использовано как для аудитор-

ной, так и для самостоятельной работы школьников старших классов и студентов 
первого и второго курсов высших учебных заведений.

The story of street art                                                         By Robin Newton
Modern graffiti began in big cities in the United 

States in the 1970s. In New York, young people wrote 
their names, or 'tags', in pen on walls around the city. 
One of the first 'taggers' was a teenager called Deme-
trius. His tag was TAKI 183. He wrote his tag on walls 
and in stations in New York. Other teenagers saw Demetrius's tag and started 
writing their tags too. Soon, there were tags on walls, buses, and trains all over 
New York. Then, some teenagers started writing their tags with aerosol paint. 
Their tags were bigger and more colourful. Aerosol paint graffiti became very 
popular in the 1970s and 1980s. It appeared on trains, buses, and walls around 
the world. In the 1990s and 2000s, a lot of graffiti artists started painting pictures. 
Some artists' pictures were about politics. Other artists wanted to make cities 
beautiful and painted big, colourful pictures on city walls. 

Graffiti in galleries 
In some countries, writing or painting on walls is a crime. Sometimes, 

graffiti artists have problems with the police. In other countries, artists can draw 
and paint in certain places. For example, in Taiwan, there are 'graffiti zones' 
where artists can paint on walls. In São Paulo in Brazil, street artists can paint 
pictures on walls and houses. Their pictures are colourful and beautiful. Some 
tourists visit São Paulo just to see the street art! In Bristol in the UK, there is a 
street art festival in August every year. Artists paint all the buildings in a street. 
Lots of people come to watch the artists and take photos. You can see exhibitions 
of street art in some galleries too. There have been exhibitions of street art in 
galleries in Paris, London, and Los Angeles. 

Who are the artists? 
Some street artists have become famous. Here are three stars of the street 

art world:

• Os Gêmeos are twin brothers from São Paulo. They paint big, colourful 

pictures of people on buildings. In 2007, they painted a castle in Scotland!

• Blek le Rat is from Paris. He is famous for painting pictures of homeless 

people in big cities. 

• Faith47 is from Cape Town in South Africa. She paints big, colourful 

pictures of people and animals. She likes painting in different places and you can 
find her work on pavements, postboxes, buses and, of course, on walls! 

The future of street art 
Many street artists use the internet to look at photos of street art from 

around the world. They communicate with other artists online and share ideas. 
Some street artists are famous, and you can see their pictures in galleries. We 
don't know about the future of street art, but it is here to stay for sure! [1]

Graffiti has existed since people learned how to scratch symbols in rocks. 

Graffiti is any image, symbol or letters made on public property. While some 
people still make scratches in rocks, concrete or buildings, most graffiti is now 
made with spray paint or markers. 

Is graffiti vandalism? Some graffiti is ugly. Some graffiti, called tagging, 

is just the name or initials of a person. It is often unreadable. The only purpose 
of tagging seems to be to quickly spray your initials on as many different surfaces 
as possible. Nobody likes tags except the taggers. 

Is graffiti art? Some graffiti is artistic and takes time, skill and talent to 

create. It can be nice to look at. The purpose of some graffiti is to spread social 
messages or political messages. Some cities have places where walls or other 
surfaces can be used by people to create pieces of graffiti art.

Kazuo Shiraga is an artist from the Gutai art group, which emerged in 

Japan after World War II. He doesn’t paint in the traditional way, with a paint-
brush. Instead, he creates his paintings using his hands and feet. He wants to 
communicate the idea of movement and action in his art. 

Leonardo da Vinci painted one of his most famous paintings, the Mona 

Lisa, in the early 1500s. It shows the image of a young woman. The portrait rep-
resents Lisa Gheradini, the wife of a successful Italian businessman. People like

the painting because it is very realistic. It shows exactly what she looked like. The 
painting is most famous for Mona Lisa’s smile. From any viewpoint –standing in 
front of the painting or to the side- it looks like Mona Lisa is smiling at you.

In the mid-1800s, Claude Monet helped develop a new style of painting 

called Impressionism. Monet is famous for his outdoor scenes of lakes and the 
ocean. He also painted pictures of common objects, such as fruit and flowers. 
Other painters in this category included Pierre- Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, 
and Mary Cassatt. Impressionist painters didn’t mix colors together. Instead, they 
made small dots of pure color.
